Uploading

    ZIP Upload

ZIP Upload is the most efficient way to add multiple products to merchi.ai. Package your product images and PDF documents in a ZIP file and upload them all at once.

    Preparing Your ZIP File

    File Naming Convention

Name your image and PDF files using your Product ID (SKU) followed by an underscore:

    my-products.zip
    ├── SKU1234_1.jpg
    ├── SKU1234_2.jpg
    ├── SKU1234_3.jpg
    ├── SKU5678_1.jpg
    ├── SKU5678_2.jpg
    ├── SKU5678_3.jpg
    └── PROD999_1.png

    Naming Rules

    • Product ID: The part before the first underscore becomes your Product ID (e.g., SKU1234)
    • Images: A number after the underscore sets the display order (e.g., _1, _2, _3). The lowest number becomes the primary image.
    • PDFs: Any text after the underscore works (e.g., _datasheet, _spec). No number required.
    • Use your existing SKU or product codes
    • Keep product IDs unique
    • Avoid special characters in product IDs (except hyphens and underscores)

    Including PDFs

You can include PDF documents (data sheets, specification sheets, brochures) alongside your images. Use the same naming convention:

    my-products.zip
    ├── SKU1234_1.jpg ← primary image
    ├── SKU1234_2.jpg ← additional image
    ├── SKU1234_datasheet.pdf ← PDF for AI context
    ├── SKU5678_1.jpg
    └── SKU5678_spec.pdf

    PDF naming rules:

    • Start with the Product ID followed by an underscore: {productId}_*.pdf
    • The PDF does not need a number — any text after the underscore works
    • Multiple PDFs per product are supported
    • PDFs are read by the AI for content generation; the first page is used as the product image if no image is present

    • BMP (.bmp)

    Best Practices

    Optimize Your Images

    • Compress images to reduce upload time
    • Remove unnecessary metadata
    • Use consistent image dimensions

    Test First

    • Start with a small batch (5-10 products)
    • Verify the output meets expectations
    • Adjust your Writing Knowledge if needed
    • Then process larger batches

    Image Quality

    • Better images = better descriptions
    • Show product clearly
    • Include different angles
    • Avoid blurry or dark images

    Troubleshooting

    Upload Fails

    • Check file size (max 100MB per ZIP)
    • Ensure ZIP is not corrupted
    • Try a smaller batch
    • Check internet connection

    Out of Credits

    • Credits are checked before upload processing begins
    • If you see a “credits exhausted” message, upgrade your plan or wait for your credits to refresh
    • Each product image in the ZIP consumes 1 credit during processing
    • Check your remaining credits in the sidebar

    Missing Products

    • Verify file naming convention is correct (SKU_1.jpg, SKU_datasheet.pdf)
    • Check for hidden files in the ZIP
    • Ensure images are in supported formats (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, BMP, SVG)
    • PDFs must have .pdf extension and start with the Product ID

    Poor Content Quality

    • Review your Writing Knowledge settings
    • Improve image quality
    • Add more product images
    • Provide clearer images of labels/features

    After Upload

    Once processing completes:

    1. Go to All Products View
    2. Filter by recent products
    3. Review generated content
    4. Approve, edit, or reject as needed
